Join the Binghamton University Men's and Women's Tennis Teams and Coaches for a Skills Clinic at the Lane-Starke Tennis Center
Bearcats Mens and Womens Tennis, the North of Main (NoMa) Community Center, and Tennis Charities of Binghamton had a blast teaching local elementary school kids how to play tennis this past Tuesday (12/5/2023). This was the first in what we hope to be many forays into the local schools as we strive to use tennis and off court educational activities as vehicles for youth development.
In the fall of 2020, Bob deVente, at the age of 85 was diagnosed with stage IV Pancreatic cancer. Bob had been a teaching pro at the Binghamton Tennis Center for 20 years and was teaching until his diagnosis. Bob has influenced hundreds of kids with his energy, enthusiasm and loving attitude. The deVente Scholarship Fund carries on Bob's legacy by awarding scholarships to juniors who share Bob's passion for the game and continue his vision for the future.
"Keep the Ball Bouncing" is a saying Bob often used, and the theme we used during Bob's diagnosis and attempted recovery which conveys his attitude, energy and strength. The Fund's goal is to keep the ball bouncing and grow the game of tennis in Bob's memory.
